What are Capillaries?
Only around one cell thick, capillaries, are the smallest blood vessels. They are not like normal blood vessels. In fact they don't have the normal blood vessel layers. There are two types of capillaries named continuous and fenestrated capillaries. Capillaries can sometimes form networks or a bundle of capillaries called capillary beds.
Fenestrated Capillaries
- Have pores that allow things to leave them.
- The pores are small but allow molecules to be passed.
- They can be found in the intestines, pancreas, endocrine glands and so on.
